First in this beautifully bound collection is Art in Australia''s Souvenir to commemorate the opening of the Sydney Harbour Bridge. " No expense has been spared to make the book worthy of the occasion and an attempt has been made to record, not only the famous Bridge, but to suggest the city which it adorns. Dr. Bradfield''s article on Sydney in 1950 outlines a city of the future - and describes with the illustrations the great undertaking of the Bridge approaches and the handling of the traffic problems, with are a direct result of the Harbout Bridge and the Underground Railway. The Director of the National Art Gallery contributes an article on the signifcance of the Harbour Bridge and deals with the structure from and aesthetic point of view. The photographs by Cazneaux are a delightful comment on the beauty of the Bridge and Charles H. Hertie''s article on Sydney touches the romantic and historical aspect of our city. E. O. Hoppe the distinguished English photographer contributes a fine series of 16 studies of Sydney which alone will make this book a valuable and articstic record. The collection of paintings by such well known Australian artists as J. J. Hilder, Will Ashton, James R. Jackson, B. E. Minns and Percy Lindsay will add further interest to this souvenir. A pictorial record of the pageants in connection with the opening of the Bridge will give some idea of the citizens'' attempt to make the opening a memorable one and the remaining articles on such institutes as the University, the Mitchell Library, The National Gallery, the Museum and the Famous Zoo at Taronga Park should be of particular interest to the visitor to Sydney. The Surf, the Beaches, the A.J.C., Yachting and Boating, the wonderful Royal Agricultural Show - all find a place in this book." This is a beautiful publication printed on the best coated art paper, with magnificant photo''s and reproductions. The E. O. Hoppe photo''s are all done with a sepia tone to them, they are beautiful. Throughout the publication are full colour and colour touched advertisments from the day for everything from corsets and shoes, lux soap, arnott''s biscuits, cosmetics to golf and sporting goods and an add for the company that supplied the superior paper for the publication. Completing the publication is the 6 pages on the Pagents or Street Parade. This is a rare article in itself, with the whole parade described in detail. There were four sections to this Pageant The Historical Pageant which featured prominent places and people and times. A Transport section representing early vehicles, a Primary Industry Section and a Floral Section representing 12 different suburbs. Altogether there are 24 float designs pictured with credits to the designers. Following this souvenir programme is three editions of The Home Annual - A Sydney Morning Herald Publication. The 1934 edition has eight articles, on different things like Aboriginal Art and pearls from Australia, Recording the Song of the Lyre Bird, Bird economics, and 24 colour plates and 24 Sepia plates. The Colour plates feature prominant artists of the day including Henry Lawson by Sir John Longstaffe, Blamire Young, Elioth Gruner, J. J. Hilder, Will Ashton, Harold Herbert, Hans Heysen, Robert Johnson, Arthur J. Murch, Louis McCubbin, William Rowell, Sydney Ure Smith,
